Karl Singporewala RWA RIBA is an architect, artist and Academician of the Royal West of England Academy. He is the founding director of Karl Singporewala + the design bureau (KSdb), an architecture practice focused on heritage, cultural and residential projects.
Karl’s work spans conservation, contemporary adaptive reuse and cultural regeneration. Current KSdb projects include the restoration of Grade I Regency townhouses in Brighton, the renewal of a Grade II* art deco cinema in Harrow, the reorganisation of a Grade II* listed gallery in Bristol, and conservation-led residential projects across the UK. Previously, Karl was co-director of Barbara Weiss Architects and worked for a decade as an architect for Ian Ritchie Architects, contributing to a range of internationally recognised projects.
In 2025 Karl was appointed a Community Fellow of SOAS University of London for his research into identity formation and material cultures. He contributes to the cultural sector as an RWA Academicians Council and Exhibitions Advisory Committee member, Trustee of Theatre Centre, inaugural member of the Crawley Cultural Compact, and through initiatives supporting creative infrastructure and contemporary art, including the annual artist-in-residence programme at the Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies at SOAS.
Karl’s artwork is held in public and private collections including the RWA and SOAS, and is represented internationally by Runjeet Singh Gallery.
