Manuelle Gautrand - Architecture , Architect

Manuelle Gautrand studied architecture at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture in Montpellier and then worked for various architectural studios in Paris.

In 1991 she founded her practice Manuelle Gautrand Architecture, first in Lyons and then in Paris, and has lived and worked in Paris since 1994. Her architecture aims to 're-enchant the city' - to reinvent, renew and propose unexpected and uplifting solutions. Each new project is approached through the spirit of the blank page, with no à priori. Yet all her projects articulate a specific relationship to site, crystallising a unique and symbolic encounter between place and programme. In 2007 her new showroom for Citroen on the Champs Elysees in Paris attracted international acclaim. Recent projects include an extension to the Lille Museum of Modern, Contemporary and Outsider Art; a Cultural and Sports Centre in Saint-Louis; a mixed-use building in Montpellier, and an urban complex in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
