Oliver Chapman Architects
Oliver Chapman founded the practice in 1997 after studying at Glasgow School or Art and gained his early professional experience working in London, Vienna and Edinburgh. He fosters a collaborative spirit throughout the practice's various activities which includes coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, especially for community-led projects. He has over twenty-five years professional experience creating buildings and places for cultural, residential, healthcare, leisure and commercial uses, prioritising the re-use of buildings, some of which have significant heritage value in places with high landscape value. He has received RIBA awards amongst others on behalf of the practice’s work and is an architectural assessor for the annual Civic Trust Award. The practice was titled Scottish Architectural Practice of the Year 2020.Oliver also teaches architecture, recently at University of Edinburgh and Newcastle, and speaks regularly in public about the work and ethos of the practice.He founded Schop, an early start-up co-working business in 2008, which has developed into a provider of office space and services for self-employed individuals and small businesses in two locations.His interests include civic life and debate, city cycling and singing with Calton Consort.
