Tony Chapman is not a trained architect but in 2011 the RIBA made him an Honorary Fellow for his contributions to architecture as a writer, film-maker and the RIBA’s Head of Awards, a job he left in 2016. He is now a full-time writer and architectural consultant.
He is author of 20 books on architecture including two books on the Stirling Prize, a children’s book on architecture and is currently working on a book with Peter Zumthor. He writes for Architects Journal, RIBA Journal and The 20th Century Magazine. He has previously judged the Lubetkin Prize, the Mies Prize, Manser Medal, AJ Small Projects and AJ Retrofit Awards.
