Laura Keay is an Architect, who joined the London Borough of Merton as a Community Retrofit Officer through the PUBLIC PRACTICE Associate programme. She advocates for low-embodied carbon buildings, circular economies and retrofitting to reduce the construction industry's impact on the environment.
At her previous practice, New Makers Bureau, she designed environmentally and socially conscious buildings for the common good, particularly 32° East Arts Centre in Kampala, Uganda, which won the Dezeen Awards Best Cultural Project 2023. Passionate about sharing her experience with the next generation she was a Design Tutor at Nottingham and is a mentor for Women in Architecture.
